EGFA is hosting the 4th Annual FREE event for new players to Try Softball.
Date: Saturday February 21st 1:00-3:00
Location: Hopkins Mission Fastpitch indoor training facility (8960 Excelsior Blvd, Hopkins, MN 55343)
This popular event is geared towards players that are either 1) new to softball or 2) transitioning from slow pitch to fast pitch. Best for ages 5-10 but ages up to 14 are welcome.
Participants will be introduced to fundamentals of hitting, throwing, catching and base running while having fun with Edina High School Softball players and EGFA volunteers.
The goal is to help players and parents decide if they want to play softball and enter into the rec program (6U, 8U) or *travel program (10U, 12U). 8U travel is also available pending player evaluation/team wait list.
Some equipment will be provided by EGFA and will be shared among the participants. Please bring yours if you have it (helmet, bat, glove, field mask) and make sure your equipment is clearly labeled. And if you have extra to share, bring that too!
Players should wear athletic/comfortable clothing and athletic shoes (no cleats) and bring a water bottle.
Due to space limitations, this is a drop -off event. Parents can hang in their car or enjoy some time away.

Effective Fall 2023, Minnesota Softball revised age eligibility for all divisions. The age of the player on August 31, 2025, is their playing age for the 2026 season in 8u, 10u, 12u and 14u.
Overaged players can NOT play down an age group. However, some parents & players may decide they would prefer to play up an age group. If this is the case, please send an email to the EGFA Board of Directors.
To determine which age level your player should register, use this link to calculate age level: Level Calculator
Check out our Edina Softball equipment guide page for a breakdown of what's needed by age level or talk to your coach.
