    2021 Spring Summer Tryouts - Saturday 3/20 & Sunday 3/21

We are looking forward to and preparing for our evaluations and team formation process for the 2021 spring/summer season.  Here is the upcoming schedule and outline of activities:

    Format:

Note:  8U and 14U players will not go through evaluations.  For 8U we will create teams based on neighborhood, friend requests, and age.  For 14U we will field 1 team.

The schedule of events for 10U and 12U are the following:

    • Saturday, March 20 we will use outside evaluators to grade players skills in hitting, fielding, baserunning, pop flies, catching (optional), and pitching (optional)
    • Saturday evening, based on feedback from evaluators, we will determine:

      • Levels of all 3 teams for each age group.  Our intention is to have 1 A team at each level and then evaluators will recommend how to form the other two teams (2 even B teams, or a B team and a development C team, etc.)

      • Select coaches for each team.  For parent coaches this will depend on recommendation by evaluators on which teams the players should be placed

      • Post groups to website for Sunday tryouts

    • Sunday, March 21

      • 9am - 10:20 - Group 1 for 10U and 12U.  This tryout session will be run by the A team coaches and will be used to make final selections for those teams

      • 10:30 - noon - Group 2 for 10U and 12U.  This session will be run by the other coaches and will be used to select remaining teams

    Check-in

During check-in we will ask the following information:

    • Emergency contact information

    • Is the player interested in trying out for the A team?  We encourage everyone to do this with even mild interest.  If not interested, player will still go through evaluations and tryouts to make sure they are placed on the right team

    • Would player like to tryout as a catcher (this is optional - if there’s mild interest we strongly encourage the player to do this)

    • Would player like to tryout as a pitcher (this is optional - if there’s mild interest we strongly encourage the player to do this)

    • We will then assign a pull-over jersey and an evaluation group

    • Collect $75 check made out to EGFA

    • Parents are asked to drop off and pick up only

    Evaluation and Tryout Schedules:

We will be using outside evaluators on Saturday (non-parents and non-board members).  Coaches will then hold group tryouts on Sunday, based on input from the Evaluators and coaches will select their teams after Sunday tryouts.
