Fall

Edina Girls Softball - Fall 2023 Registration

Are you looking for more opportunities to play the great game of fastpitch softball? Fall softball gives you five weeks of practice, four weekend doubleheaders, and a state tournament. All to work on improving your game, trying new positions, preparing yourself to play at an older age level, being part of a team, or just trying fastpitch softball for the first time.

Registration closed Sunday, July 30th.

FALL LEAGUE – AGE LEVELS 8U, 10U, and 12U Travel

The Fall league provides an excellent opportunity for players to continue learning the game of fastpitch. Everyone, regardless of experience level is encouraged to play since the entire roster bats and there is free substitution for fielders during the fall league. Age groups are 8U, 10U, and 12U.

Effective Fall 2024, Minnesota Softball has revised age eligibility for all divisions. The age of the player on August 31, 2023 is their playing age for the 2024 season. Overaged players can NOT play down in an age group. However, some players may play up an age group. Listed below are the current birthdates by age level:

*NEW* Fall 2024 Age Levels by Birthdate
Age Level Earliest Birthdate Latest Birthdate
8U 9/1/2014 8/31/2016
10U 9/1/2012 8/31/2014
12U  9/1/2010 8/31/2012

FALL LEAGUE SCHEDULE

Practices will start mid-August (unless notified by your coach before then).  Practice schedules will be distributed following team formation that happens after the registration closes. League games consist of double headers played on the afternoons of Saturday (8U/10U) and Sunday (12U) at 12:00 & 1:30 or 3:00 & 4:30. The games will be played at locations throughout the metro and outstate areas including St Cloud and Mankato.  Game scheduling is unique compared to the Spring/Summer season because teams are seeded weekly to even out competition.

Based on the weekly seeding process, game schedules are released the Wednesday or Thursday prior to the upcoming game weekend.  The games will occur on the following weekends:

  • Fall Ball Week 1 - August 19/20
  • Fall Ball Week 2 - August 26/27
  • Fall Ball Week 3 - September 9/10
  • Fall Ball Week 4 - September 16/17
  • Fall State - September 23/24

Note:  We will bid to host games at Pamela Park and Valkenburg Park to help limit travel for our teams.  If we are able to secure games at our sites, we will need to request parent volunteers to help prep the fields.

COST
The registration fee for the fall program is $125 for 8U and $175 for 10U, 12U.  The registration fee covers EGFA administration costs and MN Softball League/Tournament costs.

The uniform consists of a t-shirt, which is included with your registration fee.  You must provide black uniform pants and green or yellow socks. Additional equipment needed are softball cleats (plastic cleats only), a glove, and a field mask.  The EGFA can provide a batting helmet (with cage and chin strap), and bat for use, although most players provide their own.  Some parents don't want their player to share helmets and having a properly sized bat for your player is important for their success at hitting.
